Silent Struggles: A Look at Silent Men and Why We Need to Talk

I recently came across an article in The Sunday Post about Duncan Cowles’ documentary, Silent Men, and it got me thinking. The documentary dives into a topic that hits close to home for many men and the the challenge of talking openly about emotions. We’ve all grown up with messages that men should stay strong, keep calm, and carry on. But those messages can leave many of us feeling isolated, silently struggling with anger, stress, or confusion, and unsure where to turn.

Silent Men reminds us that behind the silence, there’s often a lot going on. The documentary sheds light on the real-life pressures many men feel to hold it all in. And while this silence can seem like 'strength,' in reality, it often means facing our battles alone.

At Guiding Light Coaching, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be when men find a safe space to talk and work through their challenges. It’s about helping each other move past the idea that showing emotion makes us weak and instead seeing it as a way to gain clarity and real inner strength.

If you’re interested in exploring these ideas, or if you’re feeling weighed down by your own silent struggles, I encourage you to check out the article and the documentary. You’re not alone, and there are ways to move forward with confidence and clarity.
